Workshops/Seminars/Conferences etc conducted by the department:

During the year 2006-2007:

1) The Departments of Philosophy and English Anantapur Campus conducted an inter-departmental workshop on "Philosophy and Literature: The Inter-Relationship" on 2nd July at Anantapur Campus.

The Inter-disciplinary nature of these two humanities departments helped them to come together on a common line of thought. The workshop aimed at bringing together the 'poets' and 'philosophers' in an ambience of a healthy academic discussion to cull out the already existing links between philosophy and literature.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. (Miss) B. Poornasri Devi, Principal of the Campus. The following eminent professors addressed the participants:

2. The Department of English of the Anantapur Campus of the University organised a National Seminar on the theme – "English Literature and Educare" between 15th and 16th November, 2006, at Prasanthinilayam.

The theme of the Seminar was based on Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's enunciation of Educare as that which helps man to retain his innate divinity on a continual basis. The aim of the Seminar was to treat English Literature as a vehicle of values. Speakers during the seminar were:

  2. Dr. Rajeshwari C. Patel was guest speaker at the National Seminar on 'Learning Communication in English through Language and Literature: Its Principles and Practices' held at Sri Sankara Arts and Science College, Enathur, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Her guest lecture was on 27.02.2007, in the morning session, on the subject 'Ethical Literature for Communication'. She was also a judge for the Inter-collegiate Drama Competition at the Seminar.
