Prof. Vishwanath Pandit assumed charge as the eighth Vice-Chancellor on 9th August 2008.
He completed M.A. in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics, New Delhi and completed Ph.D. in 1971 from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. He has held high academic positions in Delhi School of Economics; University of Pennsylvania, USA.; University of North Carolina, USA; University of Manchester, UK; and has worked as the Dean of Humanities and Head of the department of Economics at the Sri Sathya Sai University.
He has also held the position as the Editor for the Indian Economic Review in 1986. He was the Macroeconomic Planning Adviser to Government of Sri Lanka (1989-90), Consultant to World Bank, Washington, USA (1975); and Consultant to Rail India Technical and Economic Services, New Delhi (1978-79).
He was chosen for the prestigious UGC Swami Pranavananda Saraswati National Award for 2004 and elected President, the Indian Econometric Society for 2001-02.
Prof. Pandit is an eminent academician with a vast experience in teaching and guiding research scholars. He has guided several Ph.D and M.Phil graduates and has published and presented more than 100 Research articles and papers.
